The Minnesota State Center of Excellence promotes connectivity between industry and Minnesota State colleges and universities. We facilitate relationships by engaging academic institutions with industry and provide educational outreach by inspiring interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Our belief is that these efforts will shape the next generation of engineers who will solve real-world problems. We also work to foster accessibility to the latest technologies, workforce programs, and post-secondary education. We enhance services and activities, to recruit/retain a more diverse student population to better reflect Minnesota’s changing demographics.

We are a nonprofit organization supporting individuals with disabilities, founded in 1949. We operate six locations that span the Twin Cities metro area, designed to support the diverse needs and aspirations approximately 600 individuals who receive services each year. A volunteer Board of Directors guides the agency to continually innovate and adapt. A dedicated group of volunteers assists the 150-person staff, dedicated to helping people reach their individual goals.  We empower people to live the life they choose by providing opportunities and developing partnerships built on collaboration and community engagement. The Walmart Distribution Center in Mankato opened in 2015. We service Walmart Stores, Supercenters, and Sam’s Clubs in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. We are strictly a perishable building, meaning we ship items that need to be in a cooler or a freezer. We receive products from vendors from around the world, process and organize under strict standards in a temperature controlled environment, then ship out orders to around 120 different stores and clubs. We ship an average of 215,000 cases a day, which is the equivalent of 140 semi’s. We are more than just a warehouse than unloads and loads product. Collaboration is the key to our success, different departments specialize in different parts of the business to help operations run as smoothly as possible. We have Quality Assurance, Quality Inspectors, Quality Control, Systems/IT specialist, Maintenance, Implementation, Profile teams, Asset Protection, and of course Transportation. The plan is to open our automated building in 2027.
