Mankato Area Public Schools provides K–12 education across the Mankato area and emphasizes academic achievement along with college and career readiness. At the high school level, ISD 77 identifies four major Career Pathways: Human Services and Health Care; Construction, Engineering and Manufacturing; Business, Entrepreneurship and Information Systems; and Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.
For this externship, the educator plans to gain hands-on construction experience by building a storage shed that can later be adapted into a student project. The goal is to strengthen classroom instruction through authentic experience with structural construction, windows, siding, measurement, safety, and project sequencing.
