Founded in 1976, the South Central Service Cooperative (SCSC) is one of nine regional service cooperatives in Minnesota, serving school districts, local governments, nonprofits, and educational institutions across south-central Minnesota. SCSC functions as an extension of its members and state agencies, offering tailored, efficient, regionally driven services.
SCSC embraces a cooperative culture to streamline operations, foster collaboration, and deliver cost-effective solutions. Its wide array of services includes administrative support, cooperative purchasing, facility services, insurance and wellness programs, professional development, technology services, student support, online learning, and more. The cooperative supports a broad spectrum of stakeholders—educators, school leaders, counselors, technology directors, administrators, nurses, students, and local government staff—helping them leverage shared resources and best practices for improved outcomes.
Beyond foundational services, SCSC empowers its members through innovative educational and career readiness initiatives. Benefits such as cooperative purchasing enable cost-savings; student competitions and academic events promote engagement and readiness; and career and technical education (CTE) pathways provide students with hands-on opportunities and credentialing across diverse industries. These include career academies, mobile labs, camps like Scrubs Camp, and dual-credit opportunities. Educators also benefit from professional learning networks, communities of practice, COMPASS continuous improvement support, and customized professional development. In addition, SCSC offers comprehensive insurance and wellness programs that help members manage risk, control costs, and support healthier workplaces.
