The purpose of this program is to provide students (grades 11 & 12) with an opportunity to engage in volunteer service during their school day and receive academic credit. Through regular service, students will be exposed to a healthcare environment, observe a variety of career opportunities, and develop their professional skills.
For our new Service-Learning Program through Volunteer Services, students will engage in volunteer service experiences across the practice, presenting them with opportunities to engage directly with patients, clinical care team members, and provide non-clinical assistance in a busy hospital environment. Our inaugural Service-Learning program will be the 2025-2026 school year, with opportunities for single or multiple semester commitments. Ideal applicants would be:
• Interested in a healthcare career
• Inquisitive, observational, and tactile learners
• Have a desire to be an engaged member of the Mayo Clinic care team
Service-Learning Program Applications will be accepted throughout the month of February, with a final deadline of March 1. In addition to an application, all applicants will be required to submit a Service-Learning agreement form, to be signed by the student, a parent/guardian, and a school representative. Following review of submitted applications, Mayo Clinic Volunteer Services staff will invite a select number of students to interview for this opportunity. Final selections will be made by April 1.
