University of Mary Respiratory Therapy Program

The program benefits from small classroom size and direct interaction with professors who are published authors of textbooks and scientific papers. Faculty student ratio is 1:4 in the classroom and laboratory and 1:1 in the clinical patient care setting.

Because of our faculty experience and love for the profession, we are always honored to be asked to participate in community and school events! This includes:

• Mock Interviews
• Resume/Cover letter
• Facilitation of tours and job shadowing that can include connections in Fargo/Minnesota area for students not able to get to Bismarck, ND. 
• Guest Speaking and Guest Instruction has included topics such as:
  • Healthcare topic education
    • Nicotine/Tobacco/E-cigarette education and cessation
    • Asthma Education
    • Leadership education for students including workplace readiness, building goals and a leadership plan, soft skills, etc.
    • What is Respiratory Therapy? Allowing students to work with equipment hands on and providing information about this field. 
  • Science courses
    • Cardiopulmonary physiology and anatomy topics
    • Chemistry and Physics topics

Our program is also a great option for students considering advanced degrees such as Medical School or Physician Assistant. Our curriculum allows them to get the pre-requisites required for application and acceptance to those schools, but also gives them hands-on clinic experience and evidence based research practice.
