Rochester Police Department is dedicated to providing the highest level of public safety to the City of Rochester. Our core values – integrity, service, compassion, respect and innovation – guide all that we do.
Rochester Police Department (RPD) is the third largest police department in Minnesota with an authorized strength of 150 sworn officers and 66 support staff. The department has an annual budget of approximately $27 million.
RPD is comprised of four divisions (Community Services, Services, Patrol and Investigations) working together to deliver the highest level of public safety to our community.

The mission of the Rochester Police Department is to provide exceptional service and superior protection by reducing crime and enhancing the quality of life of the first class community we serve.

Rochester Police Department (RPD) has an authorized strength of 150 sworn officers supported by approximately 70 non-sworn personnel -- all dedicated to providing the highest level of public safety to the Rochester community.
RPD is deeply engaged in community, problem-oriented and intelligence-led policing activities. We continue to work in close collaboration with a wide variety of stakeholders, including community groups, schools and faith-based organizations.
RPD emphatically embraces the six pillars of President Obama's Task Force on 21st Century Policing: Building Trust & Legitimacy, Policy & Oversight, Technology & Social Media, Community Policing & Crime Reduction, Training & Education and Officer Wellness & Safety.
The Department provides a full-range of patrol and investigative services and includes many specialties, such as the Drone Team, K9 Unit, and the Community Action Team.
RPD has a Police Explorers program designed to give young people (age 15-20) an opportunity to explore law enforcement as a career and gain some police experience.
