Over 400 full-time MnDOT employees construct and maintain the state and federal highway systems in Southeast Minnesota. We also manage the aid and assistance given to county and city systems that qualify for state and federal dollars. Team member job responsibilities range from snow plowing, road maintenance, construction inspector, project manager, planning, survey, communications, soil technician, design, and more. They work together to maintain and improve the over 3,755 lane miles and 867 bridges, and service the transportation needs of the communities in Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha and Winona counties. MnDOT employees provide community outreach services through individual request, participating in community events, or scheduled programs. The MnDOT Bridge-in-a-Bag program has serviced schools in Southeast Minnesota since 2018. Students build a fully-functioning 6 foot long bridge while learning about STEM principals and teamwork along the way. Each group is led by a MnDOT volunteer and tailored for the appropriate age level and school/teacher need. Please contact Cindy Morgan at [email protected] to learn more or fill out the request form to get started.
