More than half of the native mussel species in Minnesota are threatened or endangered, and their populations are in need of immediate help. Our field crew here at CAMP monitors existing populations of mussels all across the state of Minnesota, while our propagation crew rears threatened and endangered mussels to reintroduce back into their historical range and help increase their populations.
We offer tours of our propagation facility year-round, located in Lake City, MN. We also have volunteer opportunities available in late-August, located in south-eastern Minnesota around the Cedar and Cannon rivers. Volunteer spaces are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please email Isabel Boyce at [email protected] to set-up a tour or to request volunteer information.
We also offer paid, summer internships for college students. If you're interested in learning about our internships (even if you're not in college yet) please contact Zoe Schroeder at [email protected].
