Drummers Garden Center & Floral is a year-round garden center and plant nursery located in Mankato, Minnesota. Since 1990, the family-owned business has grown annuals, vegetables, perennials, shrubs, and other nursery plants on-site while also providing floral design, landscape design, garden supplies, home décor, and educational gardening classes. During this educator experience, the participant will work alongside greenhouse staff during fall mum production and observe the complete growing process from crop care through seasonal preparation. The experience also includes time with the floral design department to learn professional techniques for creating fresh floral arrangements for weddings, celebrations, memorials, holidays, and everyday occasions.
Students can connect classroom learning in plant science, horticulture, agriculture, and art to real careers while developing an understanding of greenhouse management, crop scheduling, floral design, customer service, quality control, and retail operations.
