Ability Building Community (ABC) is a Rochester-based nonprofit that has served individuals with disabilities in southeastern Minnesota since 1956. With nearly 70 years of experience, ABC supports more than 700 people across Rochester, Caledonia, and La Crescent through four core areas: employment services, day support, independent living assistance, and vocational training. Their employment programs range from job development and placement to long-term supported employment and community-based school employment — helping individuals find and keep meaningful work in their communities.
What sets ABC apart is their person-centered model. Every support plan is built around the individual — their goals, their preferences, and their voice. ABC also operates two community-facing businesses, Ability Built Computers and Cosmic Corner, giving individuals real work experience in a supported environment. With CARF accreditation across multiple programs, ABC meets nationally recognized standards for employment and community services.
