The core function of the UMVRDC is providing technical assistance to the local units of government within our five-county region. A secondary function of the UMVRDC is to provide a vehicle for implementation of regional programs that cross boundaries of counties, cities and townships. The Commission delivers a variety of multi-jurisdictional programs with funding from local, state and federal agencies.
The UMVRDC’s governing board is comprised primarily of local elected officials from the area. These elected officials set policy and direction for the agency and approve the programs and services of the Commission.
Areas include grant writing, grant administration, park and recreation planning, business lending, main street revitalization , community development, economic development, rural Minnesota, resident recruitment, hazard mitigation plans, rural marketing plans, transportation planning, scenic byways, comprehensive planning, community art, and rural public transit planning.
