Jeff Metz started dairy farming in 1983 with 24 cows. He and Mariann were married in 1985 and moved to their present location in Hart, where they continued to grow their farm--along with their family, They have 4 children--Alicia (& Ben Anderson), Courtney (& Jordan Kalbarczyk), Brittany (& Nick Agrimson and grandsons, Dominick & Dawson), and Nathan (& Shelby) All of the children continue to be involved in the farm.
In 2013, a honey-processing business was purchased from the neighbors, and the family began bottling raw and processed honey to sell in stores, bakeries and restaurants.
Through the years, the farm continued to grow to a 220-cow herd, and with many members of the family involved, a decision was made to start their own cheese plant on the farm by August, 2014. As their dreams have become a reality, southeastern Minnesota can now enjoy the delicious products from Metz's Hart-Land Creamery.
