We offer a 5-year apprenticeship program for plumbing, pipefitting, pipe welding and service technicians for plumbing and HVAC in Southeastern MN. On top of our apprenticeship program, we offer continuing education, license upgrade classes, and job specific training for all of our Local 6 membership.
Established in 1898, Local 6 Plumbers and Pipefitters is a charter member of the United Association of Journeyperson and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry. Based in Rochester, Minnesota, Local 6 is dedicated to providing industry-leading training and career advancement opportunities for its members and apprentices. The union offers comprehensive programs in various fields, including plumbing, pipefitting, service technician roles, welding, and HVAC/R service. To support this mission, Local 6 operates a 22,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art training facility equipped with classrooms and workshop areas. This center facilitates both theoretical coursework and hands-on training in system design, welding, advanced pipe technologies, specialized device service, and blueprint reading, among other essential skills.
Affiliated with the United Association, which represents over 380,000 licensed professionals across the United States, Canada, and Australia, Local 6 emphasizes the importance of networking, business development, and continuous education. The union maintains a comprehensive list of licensed contractors employing its members, ensuring quality service for various projects. Through dedicated officers, members, and apprentices, Local 6 continues to uphold a legacy of success, fostering dynamic and rewarding careers in the plumbing and pipefitting trades.
