High Tech Kids offers 3 STEM project-based team learning programs:
FIRST LEGO League Explore is a program for students ages 6 to 9. Teams of up to 5 students build a LEGO model with simple machines. Students learn how to program to operate the simple machines. Each year the theme changes, teams research the challenges of a global challenge and share their research and LEGO model at a High Tech Kids Festival (either online or in person).
FIRST LEGO League Challenge is a program for students ages 9 to 14. Teams of up to 10 students learn how to build and program a LEGO robot to solve missions autonomously. Students also research the global challenge and develop their own innovative solution. At a High Tech Kids tournament, teams will run their robot to achieve their highest score and present their research and their engineering process of designing their robot to volunteer judges, who provide feedback.
FIRST Tech Challenge is a program for students ages 13 to 18. Teams of up to 15 students build a robot out of a kit of parts or fabricate their own pieces out of metal, wood or 3D printed materials. Robots are designed to solve missions, some autonomously, some by students operating and driving the robot. Teams also reach out to the STEM Community for design reviews on their robot and/or provide STEM outreach to their community. Teams will present their work at a High Tech Kids tournament and volunteer judges will provide feedback to the teams.
