Launched in 1992, the Young Eagles program (eaachapters.org) has dedicated over 30 years to giving youth ages 8–17 their first free ride in an airplane. It’s the only program of its kind, with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation. Today, over 2.4 million young people have enjoyed a free introductory flight through the Young Eagles program. These flights are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 25, based at Airlake Airport in Lakeville, Minnesota, actively participates in the national Young Eagles program, aiming to introduce youth aged 8 to 17 to the world of aviation through free flights in general aviation aircraft. Since its inception in 1992, the program has provided over 2 million young people with their first flight experience, thanks to the dedication of EAA member volunteers. These flights offer a unique opportunity for youth to explore aviation firsthand, inspiring future pilots and aviation enthusiasts.
EAA Chapter 25 typically hosts Young Eagles events on the third Saturday of each month at the Bert Sisler Aviation Education Center, located on Hotel Lane at Airlake Airport. These events run from 9:00 AM to noon, contingent on Visual Flight Rules (VFR) weather conditions. Participants are encouraged to register in advance through the Young Eagles Day website when monthly registration opens.
