SUMMARY:Range Youth Police Academy
DESCRIPTION:Range Youth Police Academy is a seven week course\, open to youth between eighth and 12th grade. This includes juveniles who are going into eighth grade as well as those who have graduated this year. \nThe academy is from 8 a.m. to noon\, starting Monday\, July 7\, and runs for seven consecutive Mondays. Cost is free. \n“This is a 7 week summer training for youths to give them an inside perspective of the legal system\,” Hibbing Police Investigator Rachael Shiek wrote in a news release. “Youths would be trained in courtroom procedures\, defensive tactics\, de-escalation techniques\, radio communications\, evidence collection and processing\, first aid / CPR (would receive a certificate from the state for this training) and much more.” \n“The youth police academy is an innovative program that provides young people on the Range with an opportunity to train with police officers during the summer\,” Shiek continued. “This helps to lead to positive relationships between the police department and the city’s youth. The youth police academy enhances responsible citizenship\, provides positive interaction with police officers and educates young people about challenges and responsibilities of police work. The academy includes structured activities designed to highlight cardinal work principles; teamwork\, leadership\, communication and problem solving/conflict resolution.” \nRegistration is required (see registration link).

SUMMARY:2025 MN Education Fair - Minnesota North College - Hibbing
DESCRIPTION:Who comes to a Minnesota Education Fair?\nAnyone interested in postsecondary education and military opportunities is welcome to attend a Minnesota Education Fair. Most high schools in Minnesota will be invited to attend a specific program based on the school’s proximity to a MEF site. Prior to each MEF\, the Site Coordinator will provide site-specific information to area high schools and participating postsecondary institution. \nFutureForward’s Suggested Questions to Ask \nREGISTER BEFORE YOU GO TO THE FAIR!\nStudents attending the fairs go to the registration page at www.StriveFair.com and fill out a quick form on their phone or computer (in advance or at the door). When they sign up\, StriveScan sends them a barcode via text message and email. The next day\, students receive an email with a report on all of the colleges and representatives they met along with their contact information and social media profiles. There is no cost for students. \nDon’t forget to pre-register your personal information online! Sign up for a barcode at StriveFair.com.

SUMMARY:8th Annual Big Lake Schools Youth Apprenticeship and Career Fair
DESCRIPTION:Students will explore the fair between 10:15-2:30 \nRegistration submissions are DUE on or before Friday\, September 12th\, 2025 \nA BOX LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED! \nAt Big Lake Schools\, we are committed to preparing every student for life after high school. We recognize that there isn’t just one path to success—there are many. That’s why we believe it’s essential to educate students on all of them. It all begins with our Youth Apprenticeship and Career Fair. This event is a powerful opportunity to provide EXPOSURE to the wide range of career options available in today’s workforce. \nWe invite businesses to join us and help students better understand the opportunities that exist beyond the classroom. What kind of work happens within your company? What careers are available? What are the benefits? And what paths lead there? Bring signage\, photo displays\, brochures\, and yes—promo items are a hit (students love a good freebie!). We can also provide power if you plan to bring a monitor or interactive tech. Some booths go even further with hands-on activities—students might get to wire a switch\, swing a hammer\, run a simulator\, or even program a robot. \nBut the fair is just the beginning. After EXPOSURE comes EXPLORATION. The connections made at this event often lead to follow-up opportunities—businesses returning to speak with targeted student groups or welcoming students on site for facility tours. Then\, for some students\, the capstone: EXPERIENCE. Through our work-based learning program\, upperclassmen may have an opportunity to work on-the-job or even become a Youth Apprentice\, working with businesses while earning high school credit. These experiences are coordinated in partnership with Big Lake High School’s work-based learning team\, allowing students to leave school early to begin their workday\, gaining industry-relevant skills in a real-world setting. \nThat’s our mission: to ensure every student is career-ready through the 3 E’s—EXPOSURE\, EXPLORATION\, and EXPERIENCE. And it all starts at the Youth Apprenticeship and Career Fair. \nIf you have any questions or want to talk more\, I’d love to connect. \nMy direct line is (763) 262-5117. \nWade Olson \nBig Lake High School \nWork-Based Learning Coordinator
