SUMMARY:The Minnesota Manufactured™ Statewide Tour Student Video Contest
DESCRIPTION:Students are encouraged to create a video that highlights the importance of manufacturing in Minnesota. To submit the video\, simply upload it to YouTube or Vimeo and send a link to our Center’s email address at mnmfg@minnstate.edu. Be sure to include the hashtags #MinnesotaManufactured\, #MinnesotaManufacturing\, #StatewideTour\, and #MNMFGStudentVideoContest in the social media posts about the contest. \nThe video contest is a unique blend of educational enrichment and creative expression giving students the opportunity to:\n• Polish their communication skills: Crafting clear and concise messages enhances the ability to convey complex ideas effectively both in person and online.\n• Explore manufacturing careers: Gain insights into the diverse and rewarding career paths in manufacturing\, sparking interest or inspiring students to share this knowledge with others.\n• Unleash their creativity: Showcase storytelling and video production skills by creating compelling and engaging content.\n• Win exciting prizes: Compete for cash awards valued up to $750! \nThree prizes will be awarded to the winning students as determined by the Statewide Tour Video committee:\n• 1st place prize: $750 cash prize\n• 2nd place prize: $500 cash prize\n• 3rd place prize: $250 cash prize \nThe contest deadline is February 28\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:Changemaker Hubs are day-long design thinking experiences that bring students\, educators\, school leaders\, and community members together to explore an essential question: How can we transform education to ensure that all young people have a safe and inclusive school where they develop the essential skills they need to thrive in a complex and interconnected world? \nSTUDENT COLLABORATION | Using our Knowledge to Action Process\, students will use their own lived experiences as well as new information that they gather to think critically and creatively about what school can and should look like. \nPROFESSIONAL LEARNING | While the students collaborate\, adults will engage in professional learning around what global competence is\, why it is important\, and how to facilitate active learning experiences that build on students’ interests\, elevate their voices\, and develop the essential skills we know young people need. \nCOMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT | A big part of this day is the dialogue that takes place between adults and students. Business and community leaders\, educators and administrators\, and students from across multiple districts or schools will engage in conversation to learn from and with one another. \nOUTCOMES | Students will develop solutions to take back to their schools and districts that start conversations in their communities that will benefit everyone. Adults will gain a new understanding of the student experience as well as the tools they need to support youth-led change. \nESSENTIAL QUESTIONS | What does school feel like for young people today? What did school feel like for the adults? What are the essential skills businesses and community leaders look for in potential employees? What are the skills and dispositions that people need to be active and engaged citizens?
